Welcome to Sinclair Community College's Nursing Online Continuing Professional Education and RN Reentry (Refresher) Program. CE modules available through this site meet professional continuing education requirements specified by your state licensing organization. Most module fees are set at $15 per CE credit.

To receive credit, you will need to complete the entire module including the final assessment. Successful completion is defined as a final assessment score of 75% or higher. A sample mini-module is available by clicking here. Individuals seeking the RN Reentry (Refresher) Curriculum must contact Andrea Borchers, MS, RN, Liaison for the Center for Nursing Continuing Education, for further information on the clinical component of the program.

The Learning Process: Five Steps

STEP 1: Set up a new account
First time users must create an Online CE account before registering for a module. The New User login registration is located in the upper left corner of the Home Page. Simply click on the link and complete all required fields. You will be asked to create a login name and password. It is important to remember both for efficient entry on subsequent visits. Once the new account is created, you may access and register for any CE module.

On future visits, simply click in the Login box on the home page and enter your user name and password. Each time you login to the Online CE site, you will be given an opportunity to update personal data. It is important to keep this information current so that accurate CE records can be maintained. Be sure to update your email address should your email provider service change. Do not create a duplicate account if you have forgotten your user name or password. Under the logon field is a "forgot your password" link. Use this link and your user name and password will be immediately emailed to the email address you have listed on your account page.

STEP 2: Choose a module
Select the module of your choice by clicking the tab entitled CE Modules. Prior to actual module registration, you may want to read the course’s overview on the catalog page to review prerequisite and general module information. A registration link is provided at the top and bottom of the module’s overview page. Do not register for a module unless it has Active Course Status. During development, modules are listed as 0 CE Hours. You should not enroll in these courses as you will not receive credit prior to final course approval.

STEP 3: Register to take a module
After clicking on the link from the module’s overview page, a registration page will open requesting credit card information. Please note that only Master Card or Visa credit card transactions can be processed. All fields must be completed before clicking the “Make Payment” button. Group prepaid memberships are provided if arranged in advance. For more information on group membership, contact:  denise.moore@sinclair.edu.

STEP 4: Begin and navigate the module
Each module is organized in sections or lessons. It is advisable to navigate the module's sections sequentially. As you study the module, you may encounter key words identified in red. Each red word is listed as a thumbnail link in the margin to the right side of the text. Click the word in the margin to access additional information. All content resources are listed in the Module’s Overview for your convenience and reference.

After studying all content sections, you will complete a two-phase assessment process made up of a self-assessment and a final assessment. Self assessment questions are designed as tutorials to help you prepare for the final assessment (exam). In the event you select an incorrect answer in the self-assessment section, you will be given the opportunity to link back to the appropriate content area for a brief review. Following review of the appropriate content, you will need to click the back button on your browser to resume the self-assessment exam.

The final assessment exam contains at least 15 multiple-choice style questions and is the last section of the module to be completed. A minimum passing score of 75% is required for successful completion. Be sure to exercise caution when selecting and submitting final exam answers. For each final exam question, be sure of your answer choice before hitting the submit button. Once an answer is submitted, you will not be able to change your selection. You cannot go back during the final exam sessionDo not click your browser's Back button while taking the final exam. Once the answer is submitted, hitting the Back button will automatically terminate your session and a zero will be recorded for the exam attempt.

Also, once you begin the final exam, you will not be given further access to the module’s content. Should the online final assessment period be interrupted or if you terminate in the middle of the exam, you will be able to resume the exam at the point of interruption by logging back in. Each paid registration entitles you two complete attempts to pass the exam. In the event that a 75% or higher score is not achieved after the second attempt, you will need to re-register and re-pay for a subsequent attempt to pass. Remember, each paid registration provides two opportunities to pass the final exam at a 75% score or higher.

Please note that although you can take as long as you like to study the course material and complete the module, you will be logged out automatically by the site if your computer is inactive for 30 minutes or longer. (An example of this would be accessing a lesson and not clicking on a keyword, scrolling the page, or otherwise interacting with the page for 30 minutes.) However, you can re-login at any time.

STEP 5: Document your continuing education credits
An electronic certificate of completion will serve as documentation of CE credit and will be emailed upon successful completion of the module. Learners may receive CE credit for a single module title once; that is, once you have received credit for completing any given module, you may not re-take the course for CE credit.
